Role Description

This is a full-time Architectural Drafter role based in Orleans, MA – a structured remote arrangement may be considered based on experience. The Architectural Drafter will prepare detailed architectural drawings and construction documents from sketches, design concepts, and markups provided by architects or designers. Daily work includes updating floor plans, elevations, sections, and details; coordinating revisions; and ensuring that documents meet building codes, standards, and project requirements. The role translates design concepts into detailed 3D models, drawings and presentations while collaborating closely with the project team to organize drawing sets, manage digital file structures, and assist with planning documentation as needed. The drafter will also support site measure-ups, redline updates, and quality checks to maintain consistency and accuracy across all project drawings.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Architectural Drawings including detailed plans, sections, and elevations.
• Ability in Drawing and visual representation, with attention to line weights, notation, and clear graphic communication.
• Proficiency with DataCAD, Rhino, Sketchup, Photoshop, Revit and/or AutoCAD.
• Foundational understanding of Architecture and Planning principles, building codes, and basic construction practices.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and ability to follow directions and redlines accurately.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in architecture, architectural technology, drafting, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 3-5 years of office experience in an architectural setting.
• Bonus: construction knowledge or hands-on building experience.

Role Description

At Architectural Design Inc. our internship program provides real experience in a local Cape Cod firm. We offer intern and co-op positions year-round. Interns work alongside our team on a range of project types and scales, gaining practical knowledge about how architectural firms operate from concept through completion. We are located on Cape Cod in Orleans, MA.n consistency and accuracy across all project drawings.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Support the work of the firm.
• Meet established deadlines.
• Align with design standards & aesthetics established by AD Inc.
• Build digital architectural models following the directions of the principal. Prepare project materials for client presentations & review by town boards.
• Strong organizational skills & attention to detail are essential.
